Inspirational Quotes

"In order to feel good about himself, a child must be successful in his own eyes, not just your eyes."
Stanley Greenspan

"Parents are led to believe that they must be consistent, that is, always respond to the same issue the same way. Consistency is good up to a point but your child also needs to understand context and sublety... much of adult life is governed by context: what is appropriate in one setting is not appropriate in another; the way something is said may be more important than what is said..."
Stanley Greenspan

"If the only tool you have is a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."
Abraham Moslow

"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."
Ignacino Estrada

"I had a built-in compassion to make a real contribution to the world."
Louise Derman-Sparks

"We have the opportunity to shape a child's life for the better."
Sandy Escobido

  1. I love the inspirational quotes you picked this week. I picked the same two from the video "Passions for Early Childhood". I will be adding Stanley Greenspan quote, " In order to feel good about himself, a child must be successful in his own eyes, not just your eyes" to my own inspirational quote list. This quote is important because sometimes as teachers we expect so much from our students and don't acknowledge their little accomplishments, like zipping up their coats.

  3. I love the Stanley Greenspan quote, Amy. I think that one of the best things we can do for our students is build their self-confidence. Although it matters what their teachers think of them when we are giving them good comments and encouragement, in the long run it really doesn't matter what we think of them but if they believe in themselves and all that they have the potential to be.
