My friend "Martha" from Corn Island, Nicaragua has many hopes and dreams for the children on the island. Although much has been done in the past years, there is much more to do. The island still does not have any preschool or early child care environments other than kindergarten. Starting a preschool is a dream she would like to see come true. Obviously, there are not many opportunites for professional development. The teachers that she works with, even though some are not very educated, are very committed and passionate about thier jobs.

I hope that your friend is able to make some headway with her dream of starting a preschool one day. Sounds like she is a very dedicated and passionate lady and with that maybe she can really make a difference where she is in the education world! I wish her the best!

I would love to see your friends dream of starting a preschool come true. She realizes the importance of early education. How can we help to make this happen?

Wow Amy, I hope that they are ble to start a program for the children soon. Martha really seem as if she will be a good educator for the children and their families.
ReplyDeleteAmy,
ReplyDeleteI think it is great that she wants to open her own preschool. If there is not currently any preschools or childcare centers on the island, is there a "need" for it? What I mean is would families take advantage of a program like this? Could they afford to?
Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteI pray that all goes well as Martha plans to open her own school. She will be able to offer professional development for her staff on the job, rather challenging but in the given circumstances, the best option so far.
Thank you
Florence
