Adjourning

When considering the adjourning stage of a team development, I think about the group of teachers I used to work with before the school closed. We worked closely together possessing individual roles and responsibilities. Opinions were well respected and differences were valued. This team of teachers functioned at a very high level while obtaining trust, assistance from each other, and working toward a common goal. We worked effectively on many different projects with an abundance of energy and motivation. This school provided children with nurturing staff and save and welcoming environment. When the school closed, many teachers were transferred to other schools in the area. I was transferred to a school without any of my former colleagues. We said our good-byes, wished each other luck, and went on our separate ways. I have been placed in a wonderful school with awesome colleagues. Even though I am in another school, I still keep in touch with my former team.

I am excited about working with this program’s colleagues. When we adjourn, I think we will all feel a sense of accomplishment and wish each other well as we say our good-byes and begin a new pursuit. Being in an on-line class is not as personal as being in a regular classroom. I have thoroughly enjoyed the discussions we have had together and feel as though you have provided me with adequate support.

  1. Amy,
I agree its hard to say goodbye especially to a team that worked closely and well together. Its unfortunate that you couldn't continue with your colleagues but so glad to hear that not only do you still keep in touch with them but have found a wonderful new group of colleagues.

  2. Hi Amy,
I truly concur your views shared in your blog about saying goodbyes because this is what I am always scared to do. Indeed we have all worked together as a team even though it was online yet we were capable of touching each others life with valuable thoughts and insights. Great post and thanks for sharing.

  3. Hi Amy,

Goodbyes are definitely hard. I know moving from those you trust and are committed with to the unknown is difficult. While it is hard, I like that I am meeting many people with different experiences and knowledge that I can learn from.

    Thanks! Christina

  4. Hello Amy,
I am glad that when the school closed and the teachers transferred that you was placed in a wonderful school with awesome colleagues in which you still keep in touch with your former team. I agree with you that we will all feel a sense of accomplishment and wish each other well as we say our good-byes and begin a new pursuit. It is hard to say good-bye especially to the people that you have trusted and is comfortable with being in their presences. I learned that the old people do not like for a person to say good-bye because it is like you are saying good-bye to your death. I say that it is weird, but I have a habit of saying good-bye. Thanks for sharing.
