Effective Communication
This week we are asked to think of someone who demonstrates competent communication within a particular context. As I pondered over this assignment, I was reminded of several people including my pastor, my husband, my principal, some past educators, certain colleagues, and my mother. All of these people possess effective communication skills however, my mother is a very competent communicator. She has excellent listening skills which is very vital when communicating. She is very clear when speaking and easy to understand. I hope to model some of my communication behaviors after my mother.

Hi Amy,

Hi Amy,
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you chose your mom as the most competent and effective communicator. I agree that some important characteristics of being an effective communicator include speaking clearly and being a great listener.

Amy,
ReplyDeleteListening is such an important skill for effective communication. What we say would be meaningless if the person on the other end wouldn't take the time to truly listen and understand what we are trying to say. I am so glad to hear that you found such an amazing listener in your Mom. She sounds like a wonderful person!
Amy,
ReplyDeleteI love when we can use our parents as our mentors, teachers, role models etc...
Listening, to me, is one of the most important aspects of communication, I like that you pointed out what a great listener our mom is.
